Ann has been working with high school and college students for the past eleven years in the dual capacity of Director of Pre-College Programs and as a senior admissions officer at the most sought after women’s college in the country. Working with students from early high school years through college graduation and beyond has allowed Ann the privilege of helping students discover their interests, options, educational and career goals; she has also enjoyed mentoring them through what is often a first job and, occasionally, a first extended time away from home. In her dual capacity, Ann has acquired a solid working knowledge of schools around the globe with an intimate knowledge of NYC high schools; she has even had the exciting opportunity to create a pre-college program for young women leaders in Mumbai, India.
After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Barnard College, Ann attended Columbia Law School and was a litigator before becoming interested in education. After spending one admissions cycle reading applications for her alma mater, Ann got hooked on hearing the student voices in the thousands of applications on her desk. Once at Barnard full time, she supervised the College’s tour guide program, created and expanded pre-college programs, including (but not limited to) one in entrepreneurship and another in academic and artistic aspects of dance. Ann developed discussion groups for women in STEM, created extracurricular excursions in the NYC art scene, and moderated countless panel discussions regarding life in college with both current college students and college professors.
Ann shepherded three (very different) children of her own through the college admissions process and has seen the agony and ecstasy on both sides of the desk. Ann is excited to help students develop their intellectual curiosity, learn how to put their best foot forward as they face the next stage in their educational careers, and discover more about themselves and their goals.
Ann is a lifelong New Yorker with an interest in the arts, in travel, in reading as much as her eyes (and tush) will bear, and in spending fun time with her husband, Jonathan, and family – Nina, Josh, Julia and Alex.
