Leanne has tutored professionally in the NYC area for five years and has taught for over ten years. Originally from Indiana, she received her Ph.D. in music history from Yale University, where she wrote her dissertation about eighteenth-century aesthetics. As an undergraduate, she studied at Indiana University and graduated with degrees in music and in history (summa cum laude). During her undergraduate years, she discovered her love for teaching when she started giving violin lessons—she quickly ended up with a full studio of students.
After graduating from Yale, she began teaching music history classes at Columbia and NYU and also started tutoring. The combination of her knack for academics and talent for working one-on-one with students made tutoring a natural fit for her. Over the past five years, Leanne has worked with students of all ages on a wide range of standardized tests and schoolwork. She especially enjoys helping high school students master the skills and techniques that they need for the SAT and ACT, including many of the reading, writing, and reasoning skills that will help them succeed in college.
