    Ethan

Ethan is passionate about helping students put their best foot forward on the page. He brings a wealth of writing coaching experience to the table and prides himself on empathy and compassion as tools to encourage vulnerability in his students’ essays. Beyond the obvious goal of helping students arrive at a personal statement that magnifies their unique qualities, he encourages his students to play and embrace a spirit of exploration as they get to know themselves through writing.

A graduate of Boston College’s College of Arts and Sciences, Ethan holds a degree in philosophy and a minor in economics. He has lived and worked all over the world, teaching English in South Korea, writing corporate reports for firms in Malaysia, and working as a freelance journalist in Colombia and Mexico. His global experience has shaped both his taste in literature and his voice as a writer, while also inspiring award-winning works of short and microfiction. His work has appeared in Mexico News Daily, The Bogota Post, Scrawl Place, Deep South Magazine, and elsewhere.

Apart from serving as an Essay Coach, Ethan has also led multiple virtual writing workshops as a Teaching Resident via The Loft Literary Center, where he recently taught his multi-genre course “Crowd Control: Making Your Writing Irresistible to Readers.” When he isn’t writing or dissecting the work of writers he admires, he can either be found tutoring underserved teens through Yucatan Kids, a nonprofit organization for which he serves as a member of the Board of Directors, or practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
