Evan is a born-and-raised New Yorker, and grew up singing in the New York City Opera Children's Chorus. He attended Williams College, where he graduated with a BA in Comparative Theatre. His creative writing made him a finalist for the Bullock Poetry Prize, and he also studied philosophy, theatre, and numerous foreign languages.
At Williams, Evan was a member of the Writing Workshop, a program where students peer-edited essays and term papers. His passion for crafting the perfect sentence continued on after college, bringing him deeper into the writing field. Evan always relies on his keen sense of storytelling—whether poetry or prose, every word has a deliberate function in bringing out the inner life of a text. Evan relishes the chance to help the students he works with find it. And, thanks to his theatrical background, Evan knows the power of a good story—and the importance of telling it with concision and vivid detail in a personal essay.
As a freelance editor, Evan has worked with a range of clients, from individual students to large corporate entities, editing their work and making sure their messages get delivered clearly, directly, and with a distinct sense of personality. As an actor, Evan has performed regionally across the country, and his particular enthusiasm for the development of new work has made him a frequent performer at readings and workshops in NYC with Playwrights Horizons, Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Lark, The Flea, The Civilians, and many others.
