Jean
As a counselor with College Prep 360, Jean brings her expertise to dynamic, student-centered advising, helping applicants craft compelling narratives that showcase their strengths and aspirations. With nearly two decades of experience in counseling and teaching, she is dedicated to guiding students through the college admissions process with care and curiosity. Jean gained invaluable insight into the admissions landscape at Emory University, where she evaluated over 1,200 applications annually. This experience honed her ability to help students present themselves with authenticity and intention to admissions committees.
Later, a deep commitment to lifelong learning and advocacy led Jean to serve with the U.S. Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic, where she taught computer courses, developed teacher training programs, and produced an educational telenovela for teens. She went on to work as an English Language Arts teacher and College Counselor at a bilingual international school in Santo Domingo, creating inquiry-based educational initiatives and building a comprehensive college and career guidance program from the ground up.
Jean holds a Master of Social Work degree from Boston University and a Bachelor of Arts from Emory University, equipping her with the counseling and communication skills necessary to support students’ and their families holistically. She believes the college admissions process is not an end in itself, but rather a powerful way for students to gain self-awareness and develop the capacity to define and achieve success on their own terms. As such, Jean is passionate about getting to know each student she works with, helping them identify their best-fit institutions and invest deeply in their interests with attention to personal growth and community impact. Through individualized, empathetic advising, she empowers students to integrate academic strategy and authentic storytelling in their applications.
Now based in Atlanta, Georgia, Jean enjoys gardening and hiking with her husband, two small children, and two medium rescue dogs. She loves to read and is always eager to swap book recommendations, particularly for literary, gothic, and speculative fiction. She is also an aspiring author and artist currently working on her first graphic novel.
