Matt Carlini is a publishing professional with over twelve years’ experience working as a literary agent and editor. First at Vigliano Associates, then at Little, Brown and Company, and most recently at a literary agency in the D.C. area, Matt helps his authors sharpen their stories for publication to ensure that they make the best first impression possible on the page.
Matt has had a hand in over fifty New York Times bestsellers during his career and has worked closely with authors including the world’s bestselling thriller writer, James Patterson, and the queen of the summer beach read, Elin Hilderbrand.
He has also represented his own roster of clients including journalists at national publications such as Vox.com, The Wall Street Journal, Politico, USA Today, The Athletic, Bloomberg News, and The Washington Post.
As an editor, Matt is passionate about helping others realize and refine their editorial vision. He’s excited by the opportunity to collaborate with authors to elevate their writing to new heights.
When he’s not reading and writing, Matt enjoys biking, hiking, spending time outdoors, and trying out new recipes in the kitchen.
A native of Knoxville, TN, Matt lives in Washington D.C. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown University where he majored in Government and English. He earned a Masters in English Literature from the University of Tennessee where he taught First Year Rhetoric and Composition and tutored students to write across all majors. He also received a certificate in Book and Magazine Publishing from the Columbia Publishing Course.
